Description

3-(Trifluoromethyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyrazine (TFTP) is a crystalline compound that belongs to the class of x-ray powder diffractometers. It was isolated from fumaric acid and crystallized from a solution of sodium hydroxide. TFTP has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV), which may be useful in the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2. TFTP is an acid salt that can form crystalline salts with fumaric acid by reacting with it in water or ethanol.
