1,4-Thiomorpholine-3-carboxylic acid (1,4TMC) is a metabolite of teicoplanin. 1,4TMC is present in human urine and has been detected in the urine of animals. The compound has been found to be stereoselective, with the S enantiomer being more active than the R enantiomer. The compound also inhibits adenylate cyclase activity and tyrosine kinase by binding to their active sites. It is chemically ionized as well as ester hydrochloride that can be chromatographically separated from endogenous metabolites or other drugs. The reaction yield for this substance is low, which may be due to its rapid metabolism and excretion in the form of an unidentified metabolite. This drug has not been shown to have any physiological effects on humans; however, it does affect mice when injected into their brains. Immobilized 1,4TMC can be used for chemical
