2,4,6-Tribromopyrimidine is a heterocycle that contains three bromine atoms. It has magnetic properties and can be used to study biomolecules such as proteins. 2,4,6-Tribromopyrimidine has been synthesised from pyrrole and fluorine, which are both polyhalogenated. The chemical shift of 2,4,6-Tribromopyrimidine is found at about 4 ppm in the proton NMR spectrum, which is due to its anion character. This compound also has a nuclear spin of I=3/2 and anisotropy parameters of γ=1.8 and χ=0.5.
