Product Information

Name:
(Z)-2-Tridecenoic acid
Synonyms:
  • (Z)-Tridec-2-enoic acid
  • 2-Tridecenoic acid, (Z)-
Description:

(Z)-2-Tridecenoic acid is a fatty acid that is produced by the hydrogenation of vegetable oils. It is used as a feedstock in the production of glycol ethers, amides, and aliphatic hydrocarbons. This compound can be reacted with sodium carbonate to form (Z)-2-tridecenoic acid sodium salt. The conjugates of this compound are cationic surfactants and dry weight. The hydroxyl group at the terminal end of the molecule makes it an amphoteric surfactant, while its fatty ester groups make it a nonionic surfactant.
