- Riluzolamide
Riluzole is a drug used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. It is an orally administered, water-soluble solid with a chemical structure that contains N-[6-(trifluoromethoxy)-2-benzothiazolyl]urea. Riluzole has been shown to be therapeutically effective against the biomarkers of plasmodium in mice. The drug blocks the protein synthesis of this parasite and prevents it from multiplying, thereby reducing the severity of malaria symptoms.
