Description:
2-Trimethylsilyl-1,3-dithiane is a chemical substance that belongs to the group of aldimines. It is a stereospecific reagent for the formation of 1,2-diols from maleates and aldehydes. This agent can be used in the preparation of homologous series of unsaturated ketones by nucleophilic addition to dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate. 2-Trimethylsilyl-1,3-dithiane reacts with organolithium compounds in an SN2 reaction to form alkyl lithium compounds.
