1-[2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]imidazole is a chemical compound that has neurotrophic effects. It has been shown to inhibit the production of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), which is an inflammatory cytokine, and to inhibit the activity of ubiquitin ligases. This drug also inhibits soluble guanylate cyclase, which is responsible for regulating intracellular levels of cGMP. 1-[2-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]imidazole has been shown to reduce blood pressure in animals, but there are no human studies available. This drug also inhibits the activation of chloride channels. The molecular profile shows a cavity with two hydrogen bonds and one hydrophobic interaction on the surface of the molecule.
