Tridecafluorohexyl Iodide is a chemical compound with the formula CF3I. It is a colorless volatile liquid. Tridecafluorohexyl Iodide is used as an iodinating agent in organic synthesis and radiochemistry, to introduce the iodine atom into organic molecules or to convert one functional group into another. In organic synthesis, tridecafluorohexyl iodide is used as a precursor to produce diazonium salts, which are useful for transfer reactions. The trifluoromethyl group of the molecule has three hydroxyl groups which can be used to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. This property increases the solubility of the compound in organic solvents and reduces its volatility, making it suitable for use in reaction mixtures that need to be heated or boiled. Tridecafluorohexyl Iodide has been shown to act as an anti-cancer drug by inhibiting cell growth
