Description

2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl Nonafluorobutanesulfonate is a reagent that can be used to catalyze the trifluoroethylation of an acceptor. This process is useful for the manufacture of flecainide and benzisoxazoles. The product can also be used as a nucleophile in organic synthesis reactions, such as the formation of anilines from chloroformates. 2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl Nonafluorobutanesulfonate is a crystalline solid with a melting point of 116°C. It can be prepared by reacting 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid with chloride in ethanol. Yields are dependent on reaction time and temperature.
