Triphenylbismuth Carbonate is a compound that belongs to the class of halogen compounds and is used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. It has shown therapeutic effects on subcutaneous tissue inflammation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of inflammatory mediators by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Triphenylbismuth Carbonate inhibits sulfonic acid-induced inflammation in a rat model for colitis. This drug also has anti-inflammatory effects on bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, that are thought to be caused by autoimmune reactions.
