Tris(2,4-pentanedionato)lanthanum(III) hydrate is a ceramic material that has been shown to exhibit piezoelectric properties. It can be used in photovoltaic devices, such as solar cells and photoconductors, as well as in the development of an enhanced technique for measuring strain. The density of trihydrate is 2.6g/cm3 and its acetylacetonate decomposes at about 500°C. Tris(2,4-pentanedionato)lanthanum(III) hydrate exhibits excellent properties with respect to thermal stability, oxygen resistance, and chemical resistance.
