Description:

3-Trimethylsilyl-2-oxazolidinone (3TSO) is an aziridine that has been used as a reagent for the synthesis of 2-nitroimidazole and other compounds. It can be prepared by the reaction of triflic acid with 3-trimethylsilylpropargyl chloride in the presence of 1,1'-azodicarbonyl diimidazole. 3TSO is used to synthesize enantiomerically pure 2-nitroimidazoles, which are used as additives in fuel and lubricants. 3TSO also exhibits bifunctional properties, such as chloride ion scavenging and nitrite reduction, making it a useful additive in wastewater treatment.
