Description

Tris(trimethylsilyloxy)ethylene is a synthetic chemical that is used as an additive in organic synthesis. It has been shown to be a metabolite of the drug triprolidine and can be monitored by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Tris(trimethylsilyloxy)ethylene is used as a reagent for the preparation of alkylated compounds. The reaction temperature may range from -30°C to +60°C, depending on the reactivity of the substrate. Tris(trimethylsilyloxy)ethylene is insoluble in water and chlorinated solvents, such as dichloromethane or chloroform. GC-MS analysis has been used to determine the presence of this compound in leukemia cells and other tissues.
