Triphenylarsine is a reactive chemical that can be used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It is classified as a group P2, aryl halide and reacts with hydrogen fluoride to form an alkyl phenyl ether. Triphenylarsine is also the most resistant chemical on the list and has been shown to have high fluorescence when reacted with hydrogen fluoride. Triphenylarsine can be prepared by reacting bromobenzene with phosphorus pentachloride or phosphorus oxychloride. This chemical has been studied extensively for its reactivity and biological effects. Hydrogen bonds between nitrogen atoms in the molecule are thought to play an important role in the mechanism of this chemical reaction.
Triphenylarsine has been shown to bind to nuclear DNA and inhibit transcription, which may lead to cell death. This chemical has also been shown to have an antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphyl
