Product Information

Name:
Tetrakis(ethylthio)tetrathiafulvalene [Organic Electronic Material]
Synonyms:
  • TET-TTF
Description:

Tetrakis(ethylthio)tetrathiafulvalene (TETTF) is a semiconducting material that has been shown to be able to transport electrons. It can also be used as an electron acceptor during the electrolysis of acetonitrile solutions. TETTF is soluble in organic solvents and has a crystal structure that belongs to the trigonal system. It has been shown to have metal ion-binding properties, and can be used as a spin resonance probe. The redox potentials of TETTF are -0.29 V, which makes it an excellent candidate for use in electrochemical experiments that require anions with low redox potentials. TETTF is also capable of forming monolayers on the surface of other materials, such as gold or silver, which may make it useful for applications such as molecule deposition or inorganic film formation.
