Description:
p-Tolyl salicylate is used as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) in the treatment of pain, inflammation, and fever. It has been shown to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by blocking cyclooxygenase and is used to relieve rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. This compound also has toxic effects on the liver and kidneys at higher doses. p-Tolyl salicylate should not be taken with other NSAIDs or aspirin unless under the supervision of a physician.
