Trichlorohexylsilane is a model system for studying the adsorption of water on silicon surfaces. It is used as a control agent in the study of particle and water molecule interactions. The interaction between the hydrochloric acid, hydrogen fluoride, and monolayer was studied using fluorescence analysis. Trichlorohexylsilane is also reactive to water vapor, which will cause it to break down into hydrochloric acid and hydrogen fluoride. This process can be used to measure the amount of water vapor in air. Trichlorohexylsilane can also be used for analytical chemistry by measuring the resistance of an electrochemical cell with magnetic particles.
