Trimethoxy(propyl)silane is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of organic compounds. It has been used in analytical chemistry as a reagent for fatty acid analysis. Trimethoxy(propyl)silane reacts with carboxylic acids and forms esters, which can be detected by gas chromatography. This compound can also be used as a solvent for methanol, hydroxyl-containing compounds, and nitrogen-containing compounds. The thermal expansion coefficient of trimethoxy(propyl)silane has been measured with an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique and found to have high values, indicating its stability. The presence of hydroxyl groups on this compound is confirmed by plasma mass spectrometry. Trimethoxy(propyl)silane is also a model system for zirconium oxide materials.
