Triphenylsulfonium Bromide is a functional group that has been used in polymerization reactions. It is also used as a cross-linking agent, viscosity modifier, and an emulsifier. Triphenylsulfonium Bromide has been shown to have reactive properties with metal ions and sulfonic acids. The hydroxyl group of Triphenylsulfonium Bromide can react with the carbonyl groups of divalent hydrocarbons and aliphatic hydrocarbons to form esters. Triphenylsulfonium Bromide can be used as a catalyst for acid-catalyzed reactions. This functional group is also used in nanotube fabrication by using radiation to cross-link the atoms of carbon molecules in a patterned manner.
