Description

2,4,5-Trifluorobenzyl bromide is a chiral compound that exists as two enantiomers. The two enantiomers have different physical and chemical properties. Diastereomeric mixtures of 2,4,5-trifluorobenzyl bromide are used to synthesize drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The optical rotation and melting point of the mixture depend on the ratio of the two enantiomers. The mixture can also be separated into its individual components by column chromatography or crystallization.
