2-(Trifluoromethoxy)benzaldehyde is an aromatic compound that is used as a chalcone synthon in the synthesis of various chalcones. It is obtained by reacting hydrochloric acid with 2-bromo-2'-(trifluoromethoxy)acetophenone and chloride in the presence of a base. The reaction yield for this chemical is high, and it has been shown to have anti-oxidative activity as well as insecticidal activities.
