2,3,4-Trifluoroaniline is a synthetic compound that has been used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. It is also an intermediate for the production of polyurethane polymers. 2,3,4-Trifluoroaniline can be synthesized by reacting hydrochloric acid with 2,4-dichloroaniline in a stepwise process. This reaction produces hydrogen chloride gas as a byproduct. The cell growth inhibiting properties of this compound have been studied using bacterial strains such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. The growth rate of these bacteria was found to be reduced when they were exposed to 2,3,4-trifluoroaniline. This inhibition occurs due to the cell cycle arrest caused by the inhibition of protein synthesis at the ribosomal level.
