Description:

2',4',5'-Trifluoroacetophenone (TFAP) is an industrial chemical that can be used as a carbonyl, an aromatic, or a solvent. TFAP may be used in Friedel-Crafts acylation reactions to convert benzene derivatives into 2,4,5-trifluorobenzoic acid. TFAP also acts as an antibacterial agent and is used in the production of organic solvents. It has been shown to have transfer catalyst properties and can be used for nucleophilic substitution reactions. TFAP reacts with fluoride ion to form a transfer product and catalyzes the conversion of chloride ions to chloroform.
