2,3,4,5-Tetrahydro-1H-benzo[d]azepine hydrochloride (THBZ) is an atypical antipsychotic drug. It is a triheterocyclic compound that contains three rings. THBZ inhibits the reuptake of dopamine and serotonin by blocking presynaptic autoreceptors and postsynaptic receptors, respectively. The drug has been shown to be effective in treating psychosis, anorexia nervosa, depression and age-related cognitive decline. THBZ also has a number of side effects including increased intracranial pressure (ICP), diffraction of light due to its crystalline form, and insipidus (a condition where the body produces too much urine).
