Description:
5-(Trifluoromethyl)-3-pyridinamine is an analog of the natural product, phenol. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of plasmodium falciparum and may be useful for the treatment of malaria. 5-(Trifluoromethyl)-3-pyridinamine is synthesized from an intermediate in the synthesis of methylamine. This compound was isolated from a strain of Australian plasmodium falciparum.
