Description:
Tetrabutylammonium bromodiiodide is an organic solvent that can be used as a cross-linking agent for liquid crystals. It also has other applications, such as the manufacture of polymers and devices. Tetrabutylammonium bromodiiodide is soluble in water and is a colorless liquid. It is produced by the reaction of hydroxy groups with bromine to form a ring structure with hydroxyl groups on each side. This product contains a mercapto group, which is a reactive chemical that can form sulfur bridges with other molecules. The alkali metals react with tetrabutylammonium bromodiiodide to produce polycarboxylic acids.
