N-(Trimethylsilyl)bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide is a liquid that has a phase transition temperature of -27.5°C. It is an acceptor and a flammable, non-toxic solvent. N-(Trimethylsilyl)bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide is used in the synthesis of polymers with bifunctional properties, such as copolymers of styrene and divinylbenzene. This solvent can be used for the preparation of many organic compounds such as phenols, carboxylic acids, amines, alcohols, ethers and esters. It can also be used to prepare monomers for polymerization reactions, such as vinyl acetate or acrylonitrile.
