4-Tetrahydrothiopyranone 1,1-dioxide is a fatty acid that can be used as an epoxidation reagent. This compound is a serine protease and has been shown to have anti-tumor activity. 4-Tetrahydrothiopyranone 1,1-dioxide has been found to be useful in the synthesis of diagnostic drugs and pharmacophores. It can also be used as an oxidant for monitoring reactions and for reaction monitoring. The oxidation product of this compound is 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1,1 dioxide.
