2,3,4-Trifluoro-6-nitroaniline (TFA) is a chemical compound that inhibits the enzyme tryptase. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of human liver microsomes by cleaving the peptide bond at the amide group. TFA has also been shown to be an inhibitor of cleavage of the protein chain at the amide group and hydroxylated ether linkages. TFA is metabolized by hydrolysis of its ester bonds, forming 2,3,4-trifluorobenzonitrile (TFBN), which is considered a toxic metabolite.
