Product Information
Tetrafluoroaniline is an organic compound with the chemical formula C2F4N2. It is a colorless gas at room temperature and pressure. Tetrafluoroaniline has been used as a precursor to other compounds, such as dyes, pharmaceuticals, and polymers. Tetrafluoroaniline can be prepared by thermal decomposition of tetrafluoroacetone or by hydrolysis of hexafluoropropylene oxide. Tetrafluoroaniline reacts with water to produce hydrogen fluoride and formaldehyde. It also reacts with oxygen in air to yield nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide. The reaction solution contains acidic hydrogen chloride, which reacts with the hydroxyl group on carbon 2 to form an n-oxide. This reaction also produces hydrogen chloride gas as a byproduct. The amide group forms intramolecular hydrogen bonds with the amines on carbons 1 and 4, which are stabilized by the halides
