Trifluoromethylarsine is a volatile and reactive organometallic compound. It is used in the synthesis of other organometallic compounds, such as CpZr(CH)Cl. Trifluoromethylarsine has been shown to be toxic if inhaled or ingested. It is also toxic when it reacts with organic substances, such as halides and hydrogen chloride. Trifluoromethylarsine can be used to make fluorinated molecules for use in the production of optoelectronics or in emulsions with hydrogen chloride or chlorine gas.
