4-Trifluorobutylamine is a leukotriene antagonist that has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of leukotrienes, which are inflammatory mediators. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme carbamoyl-phosphate synthetase, needed for the conversion of carbamoyl phosphate to carbamoyl. 4,4,4-Trifluorobutylamine has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in asthma models. It may also have antibacterial activity against Salmonella typhimurium and Echerichia coli.
