Description:
3-Trifluoromethyl-1H-Indole is a synthetic compound that reacts with an acylindole to form a cyclopropane ring. This reaction is nucleophilic attack by the 3-trifluoromethyl-1H-indole on the carbonyl carbon of the acylindole. The regiospecificity of this reaction has been shown to be due to resonance stabilization of the intermediate cation. This product can also react with amines and peroxides, resulting in a variety of products. 3-Trifluoromethyl-1H-Indole has been used as an isolated yield in the synthesis of imidazoles and imidazolium salts.
