Product Information
- 4-(Trifluoromethyl)Pyrimidine
4-Trifluoromethylpyrimidine (4TFMP) is a functional group that consists of four carbon atoms and three fluorine atoms bonded to a central nitrogen atom. 4TFMP can be synthesized by debrominating 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine with chlorine in the presence of butyllithium. This functional group has been used as an analog to pyrimidine-2,4,6-triamine and its amide derivatives. It is also present in organometallic compounds such as isopropylidene(3-carboxypyrazolato)dichlororuthenium(II) and lithium tribromide. 4TFMP is one of many possible lithiated species, which are created by reacting with lithium metal. In this case, the reaction results in the formation of an electrophilic species that can react with nucleophiles such as carboxylic acids or amides.
