Description:
2-(Trifluoromethyl)thiophene is a heterobicyclic compound with a hydroxyl group on the 2-position. It is a halogenated aromatic compound with two functional groups, the hydroxyl group and the alkylthio group. 2-(Trifluoromethyl)thiophene binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, which are found in autonomic ganglia, and blocks the binding of acetylcholine to these receptors. This blocks nerve signals that control heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing. The enzyme inhibitors may also have an effect on insulin resistance.
