1,3,3,3-Tetrafluoro-1-propyne is a chemical that has a high chemical stability and low toxicity. It can be used as a solvent for hydrogen chloride, magnesium oxide and polymer film. 1,3,3,3-Tetrafluoro-1-propyne can be used in the synthesis of fluorinated polymers. The vibrational spectra of 1,3,3,3-Tetrafluoro-1-propyne are very similar to those of trifluoroacetic acid. This chemical may be able to react with c1-6 alkyl halides to form the corresponding alkyl fluoride or alkyl chloride. The reaction mechanism of 1,3,3,3-Tetrafluoro-1-propyne is not well known but it is likely that bond cleavage occurs between carbon and hydrogen atoms with the formation of hydrogen fluoride and reaction products.
