Description:
2,2,2-Trifluoroethyl Carbamate (TFEC) is a reactive carbamate that is used for catalytic processes. It has an acidity of 0.5, which makes it a good choice for catalyzing basic hydrolysis reactions. TFEC has a spontaneous reaction at room temperature and can be catalysed by light or thermal energy to speed up the reaction. This process is called thermally mediated catalysis. TFEC also shows high reactivity in micelles and can be used for the production of polymers. The reactivity of TFEC is insensitive to allylsilanes, which are commonly used as substituents in organic chemistry reactions.
