N-Trifluoroacetyl-L-phenylalanine is an analog of L-phenylalanine that contains a trifluoroacetyl group. It is resistant to the protease activity of bortezomib and can be used to synthesize novel drugs. The hydroxyl group on the nitrogen atom makes this compound nucleophilic and its conjugates are stable in biological systems. N-Trifluoroacetyl-L-phenylalanine can be synthesized by deprotecting an activated ester with a nucleophile such as chloride, which is then converted into the desired product using catalytic asymmetric synthesis.
