  • Benzene, 1-(Phenylthio)-4-(Trifluoromethyl)-
  • Phenyl 4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl sulfide
Description:

4-Trifluoromethyldiphenyl sulfide is a reactive compound that reacts with thiols to form a radical, which undergoes elimination and decarbonylation reactions. It can be used as a photo-catalyst for the reductive elimination of alkyl groups from alkyl ethers. 4-Trifluoromethyldiphenyl sulfide is mechanistically similar to related radical reactions, such as the radical addition of hydrogen bromide to an alkene or the reaction of carbon tetrachloride with phenol. This compound has been shown to catalyze the reductive elimination of acyl groups from acyl chlorides in organic synthesis.
