Trifluoromethyl dichlorophosphine is a colorless, oily liquid with an unpleasant odor. It has the molecular formula C12H14Cl2P. Trifluoromethyl dichlorophosphine reacts with anions to form cations, which have high densities and are usually insoluble in water. The trifluoromethyl group on this compound makes it more reactive than other chlorinated phosphines.
