Description:

2-Trifluoromethylbenzal chloride is a sulfur compound with the chemical formula C6H3ClF3. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 198 °C. It has a high yield, and can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of medicines at temperatures between -20 and 120 °C. The solvents for this compound are potassium hydroxide and tetrahydrofuran, which are good for reactions involving high molecular weight compounds. 2-Trifluoromethylbenzal chloride is soluble in chlorinated solvents such as dichloromethane, but not in water or alcohols. This compound also reacts with trioxide to form sulfur dioxide, which is released into the atmosphere.
