Description:
2-(Trifluoromethyl)-Cyclopentanone is a colorless liquid that is used as a solvent. It belongs to the group of cycloalkanes and has been shown to react with tetrabutylammonium, which leads to the formation of 1-cyano-2-(trifluoromethyl)cyclopentane. This reaction is reversible and the product can be converted back into 2-(trifluoromethyl)cyclopentanone by adding tetrabutylammonium chloride. The reaction proceeds via an addition-elimination mechanism and the isomerization occurs in a single step.
