Tri(fluoroacetic acid) aluminum salt (TFAA) is a hydroxy-containing compound that is used as an initiator for the polymerization of alkenyls. TFAA can be used to initiate alkenyl polymerizations and has been successfully used in the fabrication of polymers with high molecular weight, high thermal stability and good mechanical properties. TFAA is also a monomer and an initiator for the polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compounds. It has been shown to have potential as a catalyst for organic synthesis.
