Product Information
2,3,5,6-Tetrafluoro-benzoyl chloride is a perfluorinated compound that is used as a fluorinating agent for organic compounds. It reacts with thionyl chloride to form the corresponding perfluorinated sulfonyl chloride. Tetrafluoro-benzoyl chloride has been shown to exist in three different polymorphic forms. The two stable ones are the α and β polymorphs while the third one (β’) is metastable and can be obtained by heating the other two forms at high temperatures (232°C). Tetrafluoro-benzoyl chloride has a hydrogen bond between its two chlorides which stabilizes it against decomposition. It also contains halogens that make it more reactive than other perfluorinated molecules. This compound also reacts with nitrobenzoic acid to form 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-benzoic acid diethyl
