Product Information
- 4-(Trifluoromethyl)-1,3-Dioxolan-2-One
4-Trifluoromethyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one is a methyl ethyl ether with particle size of about 0.5 microns. It is soluble in organic solvents and reacts with lithium to form the corresponding lithium salt, which has been shown to be an effective electrolyte for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The pyrimidine compound reacts with water and the hydroxyl group is reduced to a hydroxylamine. This reaction mechanism has been studied using a solution of 4-trifluoromethyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one in carbonate buffer as an electrolyte and was found to have a redox potential of 1.8 V. The formation rate of this compound can be increased by decreasing the concentration of reactants or increasing the temperature.
