Trimethylsiloxy-pentafluoropropene is a highly active initiator for polymerization of styrene, benzoyl peroxide, and butyrate. It is used in the production of silicone rubbers and elastomers. This compound is an initiator for the polymerization of polyethylene and can be used to prepare anhydrides. Trimethylsiloxy-pentafluoropropene also has some emulsifying properties. It is colorless liquid that can be mixed with other chemicals such as glycerol or anhydride to produce a variety of colors. This chemical reacts with alkaline materials to produce hydrogen peroxide and calcium carbonate.
