2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(2-furyl)ethanamine (TFE) is a chiral compound that can be used to synthesize other chiral compounds. The TFE molecule can be used as an asymmetric synthesis reagent for the enantioselective synthesis of alcohols and oximes. It is also used in the asymmetric synthesis of furans and their enantiomers. TFE has been shown to produce high yields with low toxicity when reacted with various substituted phenols. This reaction forms a ketone from the substituted phenol and an amino alcohol from the TFHA molecule.
