Product Information
- Benzeneethanol, Alpha-Methyl-3-(Trifluoromethyl)-
- 1-[3-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]propan-2-ol
1-(3-Trifluoromethylphenyl)-2-Propanol is an enantiomer of the naturally occurring lipase inhibitor orlistat. This compound is a racemic mixture of two stereoisomers, 1-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)propane-1,2-diol and 1-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)ethane-1,2-diol. These are two lipases that are highly specific for triglycerides at the 2 position in their structure. The inhibition of these lipases prevents the hydrolysis of dietary fat and consequently leads to weight loss.
