Description:
2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(2-naphthyl)ethanone is a reagent that is used for the stereospecific perfluorination of alcohols. It can also be used for the synthesis of esters and amides. 2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(2-naphthyl)ethanone has been shown to inhibit the activity of esterases and yields pentane as a byproduct. This reagent has been shown to be chiral and optical. 2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(2-naphthyl)ethanone may be used in insecticides or as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals.
