Description:
1,3,5-Trifluoro-2-isothiocyanatobenzene (TFIC) is a fungicide found to have a high activity against Alternaria, Cinerea and other fungi. TFIC inhibits the polymerization of tubulin by binding to the beta-tubulin subunit in the microtubule. This inhibition prevents cell division, which results in death of the fungus. TFIC has shown modest activity on wheat and other phytopathogens. It has been used experimentally to control Botrytis cinerea on apples and pears.
